California Assembly Committee Votes Against Making Child Trafficking a ‘Serious Felony’

California lawmakers in the Assembly Public Safety Committee voted “no” on a measure that would make child trafficking a “serious felony.”

All six Democrats on the committee took part in the “no” vote, while the two Republicans on the committee voted “yes.”

The audience began yelling at the lawmakers, shouting, “You’re horrible!” and “You should be ashamed of yourselves!”

Human trafficking victims in the audience began sobbing.

Upon the announcement that the measure was blocked, one Democrat assemblyman could reportedly be heard laughing.

“Assemblyman @R_JonesSawyer was caught on a hot mic laughing at the victims of human trafficking who heckled him after blocking the bill,” Greg Price from the State Freedom Caucus Network tweeted.

“You know you’re on the wrong side of an issue when you deliver a win for human traffickers,” said California GOP Chairwoman Jessica Millan Patterson, according to Fox News.

“Democrats on the Public Safety Committee proved they have no intention of protecting the lives of Californians, let alone protecting innocent children from the horrors of human trafficking,” she said.

The measure previously cleared the California State Senate with bipartisan support.

Reporting from InfoWars:

The Biden administration itself has recently taken steps to empower traffickers.

For example, the DHS in May ended the Trump-era program to rapidly test DNA matches between adults and accompanied children, which many argue would make it easier for child traffickers to smuggle children into the U.S.

Biden’s DOJ also recently removed several provisions from its Criminal Division’s Child Trafficking information webpage.
