C.D.C. Removes Almost One-Quarter of Minor Aged COVID-Related Deaths From Official Count

The CDC has changed the status of tens of thousands of COVID-related deaths, including 24% of minor deaths previously credited to the pandemic.

QUICK FACTS:
  • The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) updated its official COVID-19 death totals just days ago, according to The Epoch Times.
  • The quiet change was made to the CDC’s data tracker website on March 15 for both children and adults resulting in changes amounting to tens of thousands of removals.
  • According to the CDC’s website, the data on deaths were adjusted following their resolution of a “coding logic error” that resulted in decreased death counts across all demographics.
  • Prior to the change, the CDC indicated that 1,755 children died from COVID-19 along with 851,000 others, as tracked by Georgia resident Kelly Krohnert.
  • The CDC removed 416 deaths among children and over 71,000 elsewhere bringing the total deaths to just under 780,000.
  • Data from the CDC’s website is what is frequently cited by doctors when making recommendations for the COVID-19 vaccines, including pediatricians.
WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING ABOUT THE CHANGE:
  • “There is much complexity involved in all systems that are trying to track and summarize illness and death data, including differences in how data are collected and reported, completeness and accuracy of data, how timely data is entered into data collection systems and reported to CDC, and in the assumptions made, and procedures used to determine whether COVID-19 was the primary cause of death, a contributing cause of death, or not likely a contributing factor in someone’s death,” Glen Nowak, a former CDC spokesman told The Epoch Times in an email.
  • “The update is an improvement, but it’s at least the third correction to this data, and still does not solve the issue. It just highlights that people have been using a flawed source of data when discussing kids and COVID,” Krohnert said.
  • “It’s outrageous to quietly footnote such a consequential error,” Jessica Adams, a former regulatory review officer at the Food and Drug Administration, said on Twitter.
BACKGROUND:
  • In some cases, doctors and journalists have used the tracking data, while others use a tally that is managed by the CDC’s National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS).
  • Currently, the NCHS tally lists 921 deaths involving COVID-19 in Children under the age of 18, and 966,000 deaths involving COVID-19 among other age groups.
  • However, there seems to be little distinction made on the tally between those who died “with” COVID-19 and those who died “of” COVID-19.
