Bud Light Backlash Leaves Distributors ‘Spooked’

An industry insider claimed distributors are “spooked” after many have dropped Anheuser-Busch products after the company endorsed transgender, biological male Dylan Mulvaney.

“We reached out to a handful of A-B [Anheuser-Busch] distributors who were spooked, most particularly in the Heartland and the South, and even then in their more rural areas,” the insider stated.

Anheuser-Busch reiterated that the Bud Light can was designed to “celebrate a personal milestone,” referring to Mulvaney’s one-year anniversary of “womanhood.”

Reporting from Summit News:

The backlash accelerated after a video emerged showing Bud Light Vice President Alissa Heinerscheid denigrating the brand’s usual target market.

“We had this hangover, I mean Bud Light had been kind of a brand of fratty, kind of out-of-touch humor, and it was really important that we had another approach,” Heinerscheid said, adding, “Representation is sort of at the heart of evolution, you have got to see people who reflect you in the work.”
