Breaking: Fatal Shooting Takes Place Outside RNC Security Perimeter

Only one mile away from the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, WI, a fatal shooting took place early Tuesday. 

According to local law enforcement, an out-of-town officer who was present to help bolster security for the RNC shot and killed an individual who was deemed to present a threat to local residents and convention goers. 

The president of the Fraternal Order of Police Capitol City Lodge No. 9, Brian Steel, confirmed that Columbus police officers were involved in a fatal shooting in Milwaukee. Further details, including the nature of the shooting, the presented threat, and the identity of the individual who was shot, remain unknown as the investigation continues.

The shooting has been confirmed to have taken place near North 14th and West Vliet St, just outside the RNC security perimeter. Details regarding the location of the shooting come from local officers who wish to be anonymous at this time due to the ongoing nature of this investigation. 

Whether or not the individual was presenting a threat to the RNC itself remains unkown.
