#BoycottHersheys Trends on Twitter Over Women’s Day Campaign Featuring Biological Male (Video)

Hershey, the chocolate manufacturer, is facing backlash and calls for a boycott over its International Women’s Day campaign in Canada.

The campaign features a trans woman and reintroduces the “SHE” chocolate bar.

The promo video for the campaign features Fae Johnstone, the executive director of Wisdom2Action, a transgender activist.

Johnstone tweeted about the alleged need to create a world where everyone can live as their “authentic selves.”

The biological male also discussed the “fight to end misogyny, patriarchy, and gender-based violence.”

As part of the campaign, special edition Hershey chocolate bars with the faces of Johnstone and others are being sold in stores.

However, the inclusion of a trans woman in the campaign has sparked outrage on Twitter, with many users calling for a boycott of Hershey’s products.

Some social media users are upset that a biological male was featured in a space typically reserved for women.

One Twitter user wrote, “A biological MAN fronts the new Hersheys campaign celebrating women for International Women’s Day. This is misogyny at its finest! A real slap in the face to actual women!”

Another user said, “Hey @Hersheys this isn’t a woman. And you lost my business for choosing a person that makes a mockery of what makes us real women special.”

Hershey’s has not yet responded to the calls for a boycott or the criticism of the campaign.
