Border Patrol Arrests Slew of Murderers, Sex Predators in Rio Grande Valley

(Newswars) Border Patrol agents in Rio Grande Valley say they arrested at least seven illegal aliens with prior convictions for murder or sex crimes in less than a week.

Seven men hailing from Mexico and Central America were identified as dangerous criminals after being apprehended by border agents in Texas between January 7 and 11.

On Jan. 7, at around 3:00 p.m., Mexican national Edgar Antonio Barajas-Granados was picked up in Roma, TX.

“Barajas-Granados was arrested in Corpus Christi, Texas, for continuous sexual abuse of a child under the age of 14. Later that year, the 20-year-old was convicted of aggravated sexual assault of a child and sentenced to 300 community service hours and 10 years’ probation,” Customs and Border Protection (CBP) explained in a statement.

On Jan. 8, a 36-year-old Mexican male was apprehended with a larger group of illegals near Mission, TX.

The man had used various aliases during previous arrests in the U.S.

“In 2016, he was arrested for criminal sexual conduct with a victim between 13-15 years of age in Bloomington, Minnesota. He was convicted of the third-degree felony and sentenced to 36 months’ confinement and removed from the United States thereafter,” CBP said.

On Jan. 9, a 35-year-old Guatemalan male was being processed at the Brownsville Border Patrol Station when records revealed he had been convicted in 2013 in California for “sex with a minor under the age of 16 while being over 21 years old.”

Also on Jan. 9, Weslaco Border Patrol Station agents captured eight adult illegals in Progreso, TX.

One of the detainees, a Mexican national, was arrested in Utah in 1997 and charged with forcible sexual abuse.

“Ultimately, he was convicted of morals-decency crimes and gross lewdness. He was sentenced to one year confinement,” CBP said.

On Jan. 11, a 36-year-old Mexican male being processed at Fort Brown Border Patrol Station was identified as a convicted sex offender with a lengthy rap sheet for a variety of crimes.

In 2008, he was arrested in Dekalb County, GA, for “criminal attempt to commit felony rape, aggravated assault, cruelty to children in the first degree, and obstructing or hindering persons making an emergency phone call,” CBP revealed.

Also on Jan. 11, a Salvadoran male, 35, was arrested with a larger group of adult illegals in Mission, TX.

Agents discovered he was a known MS-13 gang member who had been convicted of murder in Texas in 2005.

On Jan. 12, four adult males were apprehended near the Rio Grande City Port of Entry just after midnight.

Another Salvadoran national with a conviction for murder was identified in the group.

“In January 2010, the 37-year-old male was arrested by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department for attempted murder with a deadly weapon, but the charge was later amended to second degree murder. He was convicted and sentenced to 120-300 months’ imprisonment,” CBP said.

Additional criminal migrants and known gang members were apprehended during this same time period in the Rio Grande Valley Sector.
