‘Border Czar’ Homan To Visit Southern Border Tuesday With Gov. Abbott

President-elect Donald Trump’s choice for “border czar,” Tom Homan, will join Texas Governor Greg Abbott on Tuesday at the U.S.-Mexico border. Their visit will include stops in Eagle Pass and Edinburg, where they will serve Thanksgiving meals to Texas National Guard soldiers and Department of Public Safety troopers involved in border security efforts.

During the trip, Homan and Abbott are set to unveil a new initiative aimed at securing the southern border, according to reports from CBS News and the Austin American-Statesman.

Homan, a former acting director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement under Trump, has emphasized the urgency of addressing illegal immigration. Speaking on Fox News earlier in the day, he commended Abbott’s actions under Operation Lone Star, a border security program launched in March 2021. According to Homan, illegal crossings in Texas have decreased by over 80% due to measures such as building border barriers, enforcing arrests, and implementing consequences for illegal entry.

In his interview with Fox News, Homan explained he and Abbott to not intend to wait until January 20th to begin addressing security concerns at the southern border.

Trump has pledged to execute the largest deportation operation in U.S. history, targeting the surge of migrants that entered the country under the Biden administration.

Abbott has praised Homan’s leadership and experience, calling him the right choice to oversee Trump’s mass deportation plan. Abbott noted that Homan’s approach aligns with policies that have proven effective in Texas.

The visit will include key officials such as National Border Patrol Council President Paul Perez, Texas Department of Public Safety Director Steve McCraw, and Texas Adjutant General Thomas Suelzer.

Vice President Kamala Harris, criticized for delayed visits to the border under the Biden administration, faced ongoing scrutiny during her tenure overseeing the migrant crisis. Trump’s incoming administration is signaling a decisive shift in policy, focusing on stricter enforcement and deportation measures.
