During a campaign stop for Kamala Harris, former President Bill Clinton admitted that lax border policies are to blame for Laken Riley’s death.
“You had a case in Georgia not very long ago. They made an ad about a young woman who had been killed by an immigrant,” Clinton said. “Yeah, well, if they had all been properly vetted, that probably wouldn’t have happened.”
Clinton went on to claim that the United States “need[s] immigrants that have been vetted to do work.”
Riley was killed in February while going for a run.
Riley’s murderer, Venezuelan illegal immigrant Jose Antonio Ibarra, was accused of “inflicting blunt force trauma to the head and asphyxiating her in a manner unknown to the Grand Jurors,” the indictment says.
The indictment adds that Ibarra disfigured Riley’s head by “striking” it “multiple times with a rock.”
