Democrats Boycott Biden Health Hearing as GOP Sounds Alarm on ‘Unfit to Serve’

Senate Republicans are calling out Democrats for walking out or refusing to attend a critical Judiciary Committee hearing titled “Unfit to Serve: How the Biden Cover-up Endangered America and Undermined the Constitution.” The focus of the hearing: President Joe Biden’s mental decline while in office—and the refusal of Democratic lawmakers to confront the crisis.

Texas Sen. John Cornyn stated plainly, “We must not turn away from the search for answers… the future of our country could one day hinge on how we choose to act or not act on this very issue.” Only two Democrats initially showed up—Sens. Peter Welch and Dick Durbin. Both left, with Durbin dismissing the hearing as a distraction. Republicans saw their absence as telling.

Sen. Ted Cruz did not mince words. “Not a single Democrat is here today because… they lied to the American people for four years,” he said. “They knew. Every one of them knew that Joe Biden was mentally not competent to do the job.”

Sen. Eric Schmitt added, “Their absence speaks volumes, an implicit admission that the truth is too inconvenient to face.”

The hearing featured testimony from legal experts and former Trump press secretary Sean Spicer. Heritage Foundation fellow Theodore Wold called the concealment of Biden’s health “a constitutional crisis,” warning, “If that’s not a constitutional scandal, I honestly… don’t know what would constitute such.”

As mounting evidence—including the use of an autopen, disturbing interviews, and Biden’s prostate cancer revelation—raises new alarms, Republicans are demanding transparency and accountability. As Wold concluded, “The 25th Amendment can only function… if people are actually willing to call a spade a spade.”
