President Joe Biden told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over the weekend that the United States would not support an Israeli counterattack against Iran.
Biden reportedly spoke with the Prime Minister on a call after Iran launched dozens of drones and missiles in retaliation for an Israeli strike in Syria that killed a top Iranian general and other military officers.
“You got a win. Take the win,” Biden told Netanyahu, according to a White House official.
Top White House officials are allegedly concerned that escalating military action between Israel and Iran could have dire consequences.
Biden said that the United States played a role in thwarting the attack, alleging the military “helped Israel take down nearly all of the incoming drones and missiles” targeting Israel.
