Biden Spent Nearly 40% of 2022 In Delaware, Camp David, or On Vacation

President Joe Biden spent a considerable amount of time in 2022 at his Delaware properties, Camp David, and vacation destinations, according to a Daily Caller analysis of his public schedule.

Biden spent a total of 92 days or partial days in Delaware and 32 days or partial days at Camp David.

He also took vacations to South Carolina, Nantucket, and the U.S. Virgin Islands for a total of 141 getaway days, or 38.6% of his first full calendar year.

Past presidents, including Donald Trump, Barack Obama, and George W. Bush, have also taken vacations to their preferred locations.

However, data compiled by former CBS White House Correspondent Mark Knoller show that Biden’s vacation time is on track to surpass that of every other president.

Knoller noted that in October, Biden’s time working from Delaware had already exceeded Trump’s, and if Biden is re-elected and maintains the same pace of trips to Delaware, his vacation time would far exceed those of Obama, Bush, and Reagan.

The White House has maintained that the presidency can be conducted from outside Washington, D.C., and that Biden has the right to spend time with his family. White House Deputy Press Secretary Andrew Bates stated, “The presidency is a nonstop job that chief executives can do from anywhere in the world. And regardless of location, he has taken fewer vacation days than the modern norm.”

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre similarly defended Biden’s time away from the Oval Office, saying, “he was going to go spend time with his family which every president does. That is not unusual, that is not uncommon to do and the president has a right to spend time with his family just like every other American across the country.”

Biden has a history of not paying for the luxurious properties he vacations at.

In August, he stayed at Democratic donor Maria Allwin’s $20 million mansion in Kiawah Island, South Carolina, and in Nantucket, Massachusetts, he stayed in private-equity billionaire David Rubenstein’s $20 million property.

In the Virgin Islands, Biden stayed with wealthy donors Bill and Connie Neville at their St. Croix villa, which features an in-ground pool.

According to the New York Post, Biden and first lady Jill Biden did not pay for their stay at the property.
