Biden Claims He Could Have Defeated Trump in 2024 Despite Withdrawal

Former President Joe Biden asserted that he could have defeated President Donald Trump in the 2024 election had he not withdrawn from the race. In an interview on ABC’s “The View,” Biden expressed confidence in his potential victory, citing that Trump received seven million fewer votes in 2024 compared to 2020. He dismissed concerns over Trump’s wins in battleground states, suggesting that the election was not a definitive triumph for Trump.

Biden attributed Vice President Kamala Harris‘s loss to sexist and racist attacks during the campaign. He stated, “I was surprised because they went the route of the sexist route, the whole route,” referring to the challenges Harris faced as a woman of mixed race.

Despite a poor debate performance in June 2024 that raised concerns about his cognitive health, Biden maintained that he was capable of serving another term. He rejected claims of cognitive decline, asserting that there was no evidence to support such allegations.

Biden’s decision to withdraw from the race in July 2024 came after mounting pressure from Democratic leaders. He endorsed Harris as the Democratic nominee, but she ultimately lost to Trump in both the popular vote and the Electoral College.

The former president’s remarks have sparked discussions within the Democratic Party regarding the 2024 election strategy and the factors contributing to their defeat. Some critics argue that Biden’s delayed withdrawal limited Harris’s ability to mount an effective campaign.
