Biden Admin Official Resigns After Israel-Related ‘Policy Disagreement’

A Biden administration official resigned from the State Department after the president announced weapons support for Israel.

Josh Paul, who worked in the State Department’s Bureau of Political-Military Affairs, posted a letter explaining the situation to his LinkedIn profile.

Paul’s role in the State Department was transferring arms to American Allies.

“Today I informed my colleagues that I have resigned from the State Department, due to a policy disagreement concerning our continued lethal assistance to Israel,” Paul wrote. “To further explain my rationale for doing so, I have written the attached note.”

Paul explained that the “provision of lethal arms to Israel” prompted his exit.

“I cannot work in support of a set of major policy decisions, including rushing more arms to one side of the conflict, that I believe to be shortsighted, destructive, unjust, and contradictory to the very values that we publicly espouse,” he declared.

Although he called Hamas’ attack on Israel a “monstrosity,” Paul wrote that “blind support for one side is destructive in the long term to the interests of the people on both sides.”

According to his LinkedIn profile, Paul was the “Director of Congressional & Public Affairs, Bureau of Political-Military Affairs, U.S. Department of State, with responsibility for shaping and implementing a holistic communications strategy in support of U.S. security assistance, arms transfers, and global defense partnerships.”
