Biden Admin Gives Award to Biological Male to Celebrate International Women’s Day

On International Women’s Day, the White House celebrated by giving an award to a transgender person who is a biological man named Alba Rueda for their work as Argentina’s so-called Special Envoy for Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity.

The award, called the “International Woman of Courage Award,” is given to those “who have demonstrated exceptional courage, strength, and leadership in advocating for peace, justice, human rights, gender equity and equality, and the empowerment of women and girls, in all their diversity – often at great personal risk and sacrifice.”

Jill Biden and Secretary of State Antony Blinken presented the award to Rueda during the ceremony, noting her work in ending violence and discrimination against the LGBTQI+ community in Argentina.

The presenter at the ceremony highlighted Rueda’s struggles, claiming that she was “kicked out of classrooms, barred from sitting for exams, refused job opportunities, subjected to violence and rejected by her family.”

Rueda is the first Argentine Undersecretary for Diversity Policies in the newly created Ministry of Women, Gender, and Diversity.
