Biden Admin Announces More Ukraine Aid

The White House announced it is sending Ukraine $425 million in military aid.

The deal provides Ukraine with “additional air defense capability, air-to-ground munitions, armored vehicles, and critical munitions,” a statement read.

“In the coming months, the United States will provide Ukraine with a range of additional capabilities, including hundreds of air defense interceptors, dozens of tactical air defense systems, additional artillery systems, significant quantities of ammunition, hundreds of armored personnel carriers and infantry fighting vehicles, and thousands of additional armored vehicles, all of which will help to equip Ukraine’s armed forces,” the White House explained.

The military aid came as President Joe Biden spoke with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy about the country’s “victory plan.”

“I proposed considering the possibility of joint weapons production,” he said, Reuters reported. “We also discussed the importance of additional training for Ukrainian soldiers.”

Zelenskyy’s victory plan involved Ukraine joining NATO, strengthening its defense, developing deterrence strategies, offering economic potential to allies, and replacing its security posts.

During a press conference, NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte said Ukraine will join the alliance “when the time is right.”

The aid package was widely condemned on social media, with users criticizing the millions spent on Ukraine while Americans still recover from hurricane damages.
