Ashli Babbitt’s Mother Arrested at Jan 6 Anniversary Protest

Micki Witthoeft, the mother of Ashli Babbitt, who was killed by a U.S. Capitol Police Officer during the Jan 6, 2021 attack on the Capitol, was arrested by Capitol Police on Friday afternoon while participating in a protest on the two-year anniversary of the event, National File reports.

A viral video shows the officers aggressively arresting and handcuffing Witthoeft for jaywalking.

“You murdered Ashli inside the Capitol, now you’re going to arrest her,” a bystander can be heard saying in the video.

“I did not murder her daughter,” the officer replied.

Before taking Witthoeft into custody, the police can be heard telling the group of protesters, “you’re not obeying the traffic law, you move to the sidewalk or you’ll be placed under arrest.”

“Sidewalk now or you’re under arrest. It’s that simple – we’re not discussing it. The sidewalk or you’ll be placed under arrest,” added another officer.

Twitter users shared photos of Witthoeft and other activists protesting outside the Capitol on the J6 anniversary, holding signs with images of Babbitt and Kevin Greeson (another Trump supporter who died during the J6 protest) and messages such as “JESUS IS LORD” and “MURDERED BY CAPITOL POLICE.”
