Lt. Michael Byrd, who killed Jan. 6 protestor Ashli Babbitt, has been living in the Presidential Inn at Joint Base Andrews for six months. Thousands of dollars provided by taxpayers were used to pay for Byrd’s suite and his “pet,” according to documents.

Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton told Secrets he was surprised that Byrd was housed at the base at taxpayer expense. “How in Lord's name does the Defense Department get involved in providing security?” he said. “So now the Defense Department is at the beck and call to help manage someone involved in a police shooting? It’s crazy."
