The U.S. Army Reserve has confirmed it is taking disciplinary steps against a captain who posted a politically charged video on TikTok while wearing an official uniform. The video, shared by Captain Christina Winters under the username “alexandrahamilton01,” criticized the Trump administration’s policies on transgender individuals, accusing it of seeking to “erase” them from society.
The video was posted on March 31, known as “Transgender Day of Visibility,” and included a disclaimer that the views expressed did not represent the U.S. Army. Despite the disclaimer, Winters appeared in full uniform, a direct violation of Army regulations which prohibit service members from wearing official uniforms when speaking in an unofficial capacity.
In a statement to the Daily Caller, the Army Reserve said Winters’s command is “taking appropriate actions,” though specific disciplinary measures were not disclosed due to privacy restrictions. Winters is currently serving as a captain and has a record of prior combat service as an infantryman. The Army Reserve also clarified that Winters’s views do not reflect the policies or positions of the service.
Republican lawmakers quickly condemned the video. Rep. Keith Self (R-TX), a 25-year Army veteran, stated that Winters’s actions may constitute a violation of federal law, specifically citing “Conduct Unbecoming an Officer” under the Uniform Code of Military Justice. Rep. Mark Harris (R-NC) also weighed in, contrasting the Trump administration’s focus on military readiness with what he described as the Biden administration’s radical social agenda.
The Trump administration, under Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, recently reinstated the ban on transgender individuals serving in the military and eliminated DEI-related media from Department of Defense channels. These actions reflect the administration’s emphasis on restoring traditional military standards and eliminating social experimentation from the ranks.
Winters has posted political content on social media before but appears to have only worn the uniform in this one instance. He also operates a social media news account called “This Just In News” and has covered unrelated political events, including an anti-Tesla protest.
The Army Reserve’s investigation highlights the broader cultural and political conflict currently unfolding in the military, as leadership under President Trump continues to remove ideological policies implemented in recent years.
