Arizona voters will vote on the Arizona Abortion Access Act in November. The bill would make abortions a “fundamental right” in the state up to 24 weeks.
The initiative received 577,971 signatures, significantly more than the required 383,923 signatures.
The Republican-controlled Arizona House voted earlier this year to end the state’s 1864 abortion ban. After passing the state’s Senate, Governor Katie Hobbs (D) signed a bill repealing the law.
Similarly, the Missouri Secretary of State’s Office declared that a measure granting abortions in the state would be on the general election ballot.
Missouri was the first state to ban abortion after Roe v. Wade was overturned in 2022, according to the Missouri Independent.
According to Midwestern Regional Director for SBA Pro-Life America, Sue Liebel, “The abortion lobby’s ballot measure would end thousands of lives. Unborn children who have heartbeats, feel pain, suck their thumbs, smile and even survive outside of the womb will no longer be protected in Missouri if this extreme measure passes.”
Missouri would become “as radical as California,” Liebel declared, adding that the “all-trimester abortion amendment gives the abortion industry a free pass from operating under any health and safety requirements from the state.”
The abortion amendment would “protect second- and third-trimester abortion, eviscerate women’s health protections, eliminate parental rights, and ensure taxpayer-funded abortion,” according to a release from the pro-life organization.
