Anti-NATO Protests in Paris Led by ‘Les Patriotes’

On Saturday, a large anti-NATO rally took place in Paris, France, organized by the right-wing Les Patriotes party, led by Florian Philippot.

Protesters called for a review of France’s policies towards the US-led bloc and Moscow, and denounced anti-Russia sanctions.

Many demonstrators were seen carrying banners and placards with slogans such as “France must leave NATO,” “Macron’s impeachment,” and “Resistance!” They also waved France’s national flag and chanted “Ursula, shut up!” in reference to EU Commission head Ursula von der Leyen.

According to Philippot, the protests were sparked by the high energy prices that have caused small businesses across France to close. He stated: “We must stop the anti-Russia sanctions, because that does not serve peace there but brings misery here.”

Photos and videos of the event, which Philippot also participated in, showed a large crowd marching through the streets of central Paris. No official comment or figures have been provided by French officials on the rally, which received little media attention.

This protest follows a similar rally held in September and October, according to the website of Les Patriotes.
