Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA) declared that he is “ready to work” with Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy in support of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
“I’m ready to work with DOGE, Elon Musk, + Vivek Ramaswamy to slash waste. I have a track record of doing so. I led the charge to get TransDigm to refund $16 million after investigative reporting exposed price-gouging. Let’s look to the Truman Committee and ensure Americans get their money’s worth with DOD spending.”
The statement follows Rep. Jared Moskowitz (D-FL) announcing his intentions to work with DOGE.
Moskowitz said on December 3 that “streamlining government processes and reducing ineffective government spending should not be a partisan issue.” He added that the Department of Homeland Security, “while very necessary, has gotten too big.”
“The Caucus should look at the bureaucracy that DHS has become and include recommendations to make Secret Service and FEMA independent federal agencies with a direct report to the White House,” he said.
Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) has also signaled support for DOGE.
“Elon Musk is right. The Pentagon, with a budget of $886 billion, just failed its 7th audit in a row. It’s lost track of billions,” he wrote on X. “Last year, only 13 senators voted against the Military Industrial Complex and a defense budget full of waste and fraud. That must change.”
Business Insider reported that many Democrats have shown little interest in supporting DOGE.
“Musk is a narcissist, a grifter, and a self-serving plutocrat,” Rep. Greg Casar (D-TX) said. “I don’t have my hopes up that Elon Musk is going to do anything other than really awful, stupid, self-serving stuff.”
