Representative Jared Moskowitz (D-FL) has joined the congressional DOGE Caucus, the first Democrat to do so.
“Today, I will join the Congressional DOGE Caucus, because I believe that streamlining government processes and reducing ineffective government spending should not be a partisan issue,” Moskowitz said. “I’ve been clear that there are ways we can reorganize our government to make it work better for the American people.”
“Specifically, the Department of Homeland Security, while very necessary, has gotten too big,” he said. “The Caucus should look at the bureaucracy that DHS has become and include recommendations to make Secret Service and FEMA independent federal agencies with a direct report to the White House.”
“It is not practical to have 22 agencies under this one department,” Moskowitz continued. “I look forward to working in a bipartisan manner with my colleagues to remove FEMA and Secret Service from DHS.”
The DOGE Caucus was launched by Reps. Aaron Bean (R-FL) and Pete Sessions (R-TX) to “reduce waste, fraud, and abuse in the federal government,” according to a press release.
“Specifically, the caucus is committed to supporting President-Elect Donald Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) in its mission to dismantle the out-of-control Government Bureaucracy, slash excess regulations, cut wasteful expenditures, and restructure federal agencies,” it says.
A DOGE subcommittee, Delivering on Government Efficiency Subcommittee, will also be chaired by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA).
Greene said the subcommittee will provide “transparency and truth to the American people through hearings.”
“I’m excited to chair this new subcommittee designed to work hand in hand with President Trump, Elon Musk, Vivek Ramaswamy and the entire DOGE team,” Greene said. “We will identify and investigate the waste, corruption and absolutely useless parts of our federal government.”
“The bureaucrats who don’t do their job, fail audits like in the Pentagon and don’t know where billions of dollars are going, will be getting a pink slip,” she added. “Chairman Comer and I are focused on delivering the mandate voters sent on Nov. 5th, and I can’t wait to get to work.”
