Americans Facing Higher Costs This Labor Day Due to Inflation

According to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, prices for propane, kerosene, and firewood have risen 16% from January 2021 to July 2024.

The cost of classic cookout staples has also surged, with ground beef up 26%, hotdogs 25% higher, and chicken parts increasing by 23%.

The price for a whole fresh chicken has jumped 27% since President Biden and Vice President Harris took office, highlighting the significant inflation affecting everyday American goods.

In May 2024, a Fox News poll found that 55% of Americans were not planning to take a summer vacation this year amid soaring costs.

Of those who are not leaving home for the summer, 73% said they lack the funds to do so, while 15% do not have time.

Of those who are planning to travel over the summer, 72% said they were affected by higher costs.

The poll noted that 84% of Americans say gas prices are a concern for their family.

Eighty-nine percent of poll respondents said they were frustrated by high grocery prices.

Health care and utility costs are other issues plaguing Americans, with 44% responding that each is a major problem.
