‘American Idol’ to Air Easter-Inspired Worship Special

American Idol is putting faith front and center. On April 20, the long-running singing competition will air a three-hour Easter-inspired worship night, titled “Songs of Faith.”

The episode, airing just after Easter Sunday, will showcase all 20 contestants performing gospel and worship songs — a rare moment in mainstream entertainment where Christian faith and music will be celebrated in primetime.

The night will feature appearances by prominent Christian artists, including Grammy Award-winning CeCe Winans, worship leader Brandon Lake, and Idol alum Roman Collins. Also joining the special are The Brown Four, a gospel quartet, and Idol’s artist in residence, Jelly Roll, who will join Lake for a performance of their stirring collaboration, “Hard Fought Hallelujah.”

In a moment of unity between competitors and judges, Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie will also take the stage to perform — a rare occurrence sure to be a season highlight.

This episode marks a pivotal turning point in Season 23, as viewers will vote on which contestants advance. The “Songs of Faith” theme follows a season already rich with Christian influence, from Baylee Littrell, son of Backstreet Boys’ Brian Littrell, to Canaan Hill, an aspiring pastor, both of whom have used their platforms to worship Christ boldly and unapologetically.

At a time when culture often sidelines Christianity, American Idol is proving that faith still resonates deeply with American audiences.

Voting will open immediately after the live episode, with contestants hoping their heartfelt performances earn them a spot in the next round.

In an increasingly secular media landscape, American Idol’s willingness to honor the Christian roots of so many Americans during Holy Week is a refreshing and meaningful gesture — and one that’s sure to inspire audiences across the country.
