American Faith: Retraction

To Our Readers,

Yesterday, American Faith published an aggregated opinion piece in our ‘Top 3’ newsletter. The piece expressed a view on the Russia-Ukraine conflict not heard in mainstream news outlets and did so from one Christian perspective. As a truly independent news organization, American Faith prides itself in presenting all sides of a story so that our audience is more informed than audiences who only consume news from “Legacy Media.”

After reviewal, we discovered that the piece does not meet our journalistic standards, especially regarding ad hominem attacks, which are unacceptable. As a Christian organization, we do not condone name-calling: neither on biblical-ethical grounds, nor as an effective means of political debate. Our standard practice is to deliberately avoid publishing content in which the author intentionally uses curse words or ad hominem attacks. Unfortunately, the piece did contain name-calling language in the final paragraph.

Even though the piece was aggregated from another news site, written by an author not affiliated with American Fatih, and categorized on our site as “opinion,” we have chosen to remove the piece from publication on AmericanFaith.com for using this unacceptable language. The piece never should have been published on our site, much less in our daily newsletter.

As managing editor for American Faith, I take responsibility for this mistake and apologize for any unnecessary offense this piece has caused our readers.

In Him,

Jon Fleetwood, Managing Editor for American Faith
