A Rasmussen Reports poll found that 24% of Americans know someone who died from the COVID-19 vaccine side effects.
About 69% of poll respondents said they do not know anyone who died from vaccine side effects.
Forty-two percent of respondents said that “if there was a major class-action lawsuit against pharmaceutical companies for vaccine side effects, they would be likely to join the lawsuit, including 24% who say it’s Very Likely they’d join such a lawsuit,” according to the poll.
Almost half of poll respondents (47%) said they are not likely to join a class-action lawsuit.
Another 47% of respondents said they know someone who died from the COVID-19 virus.
Of those who know someone who died from the virus, 41% also know someone who “died from side effects of the COVID-19 vaccine,” the survey said. “By contrast, among those who say they don’t know anyone who died from the virus, only nine percent (9 percent) say they know someone who died from COVID-19 vaccine side effects.”
There were almost no political differences in the responses, as 25% of Republicans reported knowing someone who died from COVID-19 vaccine side effects, and 24% of Democrats reported the same.
The poll comes as only 4.5% of Americans have received the latest COVID-19 vaccine.
“As of Oct. 27, more than 15 million Americans have received the updated COVID-19 vaccine and over 19 million vaccines have shipped to pharmacies and other locations, with 91% of Americans 12 years and older living within 5-miles of a vaccination site,” a Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) spokesperson said in an email to Reuters.
