The Reagan Washington National Airport is expecting to pause its services on June 14 to accommodate the military parade.
“To accommodate aircraft flyovers along the parade route, followed by a fireworks display, the Federal Aviation Administration is expected to suspend airline operations at DCA – affecting scheduled flights,” a statement from the airport says. “Customers with flight reservations for the evening of June 14 should check the status of their flights directly with their airline.”
The statement told citizens to “expect roadway closures off-airport that could increase travel time.”
“The FAA will implement traffic management initiatives (TMI) at DCA before, during, and after the event to ensure safety and will facilitate a return to normal operations once the event concludes,” the FAA said. “During the peak of the celebration, the TMI stops all arrivals and departures.”
The military parade will honor the U.S. Army’s 250th anniversary.

“The parade will trace the Army’s evolution from the Revolutionary War through to the U.S. Army of Tomorrow. Attendees will experience 250 years of Army heritage through historical U.S. Army personnel reenactors, period-accurate equipment, vehicles, impressive flyovers, and military bands participating in this landmark event,” it says.
