Activists Allegedly Help Child Rapist Avoid ICE Arrest

Anti-ICE activists in Colorado tipped off ICE agents while they were attempting to detain Jose Reyes Leon‑Deras, an undocumented Salvadoran national wanted for child rape in Italy. This allowed him to evade arrest, according to ICE via X.

The group involved, Colorado Rapid Response Network, is known for its ICE monitoring hotline and community alerts. ICE criticized their actions, stating, “Groups like this interfere with ICE’s ability to keep communities safe.”

Media outlets including AOL, Yahoo, Washington Examiner, and One America News have corroborated ICE’s account, reporting that the activists’ alert enabled Leon‑Deras to escape custody.

While ICE describes the suspect as a convicted child rapist in Italy, independent confirmation from Italian authorities has not yet been published.

ICE Denver has requested public assistance with tips, cautioning people not to approach the fugitive directly.
