ABC Debate Moderators Face Scrutiny for Fact-Checking Trump, Easy Treatment for Harris

ABC News moderators faced criticism for their aggressive fact-checking of former President Trump during the debate Tuesday night while offering more lenient treatment to Vice President Kamala Harris.

Conservatives voiced concerns over biased moderation, calling it a “3 vs. 1” scenario, with some pointing out that the questions unfairly targeted Trump.

“The ABC moderators are fact checking- incorrectly!- and in such a shockingly obviously one-sided way, that Trump enduring the ambush as well as he has is a win,” conservative radio host Buck Sexton reacted. “This debate has been a total sham, questions are all attacks on Trump, it’s 3 on 1. Outrageous.”

While the moderators received praise from some liberal commentators, critics highlighted the perceived one-sided approach as damaging to ABC’s credibility.

Many on the right saw this as another instance of media bias, particularly due to how the moderators focused on challenging Trump’s statements, which some say presented an unfair disadvantage.

On social media, conservatives expressed frustration with what they perceived as “softball” questions directed at Harris, in contrast to the grilling Trump endured, adding to the debate over media objectivity and fairness in political coverage.
