Twenty-five attorneys general have demanded that federal agencies and Congress cut funding for the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM) over its use of taxpayer dollars in climate-related lawsuits.
According to the letter, dated August 27, the officials demanded that the government “end grants to an organization that uses taxpayer money to prop up litigation theories that have been rejected by courts from Maryland to Mississippi to California.”
“NASEM’s coordination with these groups appears to influence both the content of purportedly-neutral guidance provided to federal courts and the timing of reporting, with NASEM’s climate moves all conveniently arrayed to maximize the strategic benefit to litigants funded by NASEM’s donors,” the letter adds. “Organizations that abuse taxpayer money to prop up political causes for the benefit of donors should not receive federal agency grants.”
The call mirrors President Trump’s July directive for federal officials to review materials found in climate guides used by judges.
“The National Academy of Sciences has historically published analytical Scientific Manuals expressly for our Federal Judiciary. Of course, the Academy has been run by Radical Left Dumocrats who, it turns out, published fraudulent, biased, and misleading Manuals on Climate Change. These bogus Manuals were used by Judges to decide massive ‘Climate Change’ Cases, and have created huge losses across our Country,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
“These Manuals have been totally DISCREDITED. Our Nation’s Federal Judges deserve Facts and Science, not Political Fraud and False Science on Climate. With this TRUTH, I hereby order Federal Suspension and Debarment Officials to review this conduct. Our Taxpayers should not be funding Climate Fraud, and Judges should never have relied upon it. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”
