More than 24,000 potential non-citizens have been identified on voter rolls across the country since April, and the Department of Homeland Security isn’t waiting around. The agency has launched a criminal voter fraud “surge” targeting nine states just weeks before November’s critical midterm elections.
The coordinated investigation, which kicked off Tuesday, will run through mid-October in California, Connecticut, Georgia, Missouri, Nevada, New York, Pennsylvania, Washington, and Wisconsin. Investigators are pursuing leads, conducting field interviews, and working to get cases ready for prosecution before voters head to the polls.
“HSI is committed to restoring integrity to our election systems and ensuring that American citizens and only American citizens are electing American leaders,” a DHS spokesperson told The Federalist in an email Tuesday.
The cases were flagged through the Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements program, an online verification system run by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. All 24,000 have been referred to Homeland Security Investigations for further review.
“DHS is laser focused on prosecuting and removing aliens who vote and preventing the dilution of the votes of U.S. citizens,” the department official said. “Our message to aliens who vote in American elections is clear: we will find you, arrest you, and you will face the consequences, including criminal charges and deportation.”
The surge comes as voter confidence in election integrity continues to sag. Dirty voter rolls plague states across the nation, and Democrat-led states have refused to release their voter data for federal auditing.
HSI, which operates as a division of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, declined to comment on the specifics of active investigations. But the message from Washington is clear: with the midterms just over two months away, the administration is treating election fraud as a matter of national security.
American citizens deserve to know their votes aren’t being canceled out by people who have no legal right to participate in our elections. For too long, that concern was dismissed as conspiracy theory. Now federal investigators are on the ground in nine states, and the evidence keeps piling up.
