Trump Demands Action on Gas Prices

President Trump went after gas prices this week, urging oil companies to lower their prices for American consumers.

“But they made too much money, too much money. Chevron, too much money. Exxon Mobil, too much. Too much money,” Trump said during an executive order signing. “When you look at one company, where they made 12 times what they made the year before, they’re going to give some of that back to the public, and they better cut the retail price, the consumer price. I’ll say it loud and clear: I’m not happy about it.”

Trump also ripped gas company executives in a statement on Truth Social.
“Mike Wirth, Chairman and CEO of Chevron, just gave, in an interview with the fabulous Maria Bartiromo, all of the reasons that his company is doing so well. The only thing he conveniently forgot to mention is that, without the genius, foresight, strength, and stability, of the TRUMP Administration, the Oil Industry, and our Country itself, would be DEAD!” he wrote. “As an example, they threw Mike and Chevron out of Venezuela, but now they’re back, far bigger and stronger than ever before, expecting to make a fortune! That goes for other Oil Companies as well…and get your consumer (retail!) Oil Prices DOWN, NOW! Thank you for your attention to this matter.”

President Trump previously directed the Department of Justice to open an investigation into possible price gouging. “The big Oil Companies are not dropping their price at the pump commensurate with the sharply lower prices they are paying for Oil,” he wrote on Truth Social in June. “Those prices are dropping like a rock! In other words, customers are being ‘gouged.’ I have instructed the DOJ to immediately start looking into this. Gasoline prices better start going down a lot faster than what I’m seeing!”
