In an interview with Don Lemon released Wednesday, Hunter Biden let something slip that the entire Biden family and their press defenders have spent two years trying to obscure. He said it plainly, without apparently realizing how it would sound to anyone paying attention.
“If my dad had not pardoned me, then Donald Trump would have his claws into my family for however long he held power.”
He didn’t say, “If my dad hadn’t pardoned me, I would have faced injustice.” He didn’t say the charges were false, or the prosecution was corrupt, or that he was innocent. He said: without the pardon, Trump would have had leverage over the family.
We knew this at the time, of course. Biden’s pardon statement in December 2024 claimed Hunter was “singled out” because of his last name. But Hunter’s own words blow that argument apart. He’s not talking about fairness. He’s talking about political exposure. He’s worried about probation officers with access to his home. He’s worried about what a supervised son might say. He’s worried about leverage.
That’s not an innocent man concerned about a miscarriage of justice. That’s a guilty man explaining why the pardon was necessary for the family’s survival.
And here’s the thing that should make every American furious: Joe Biden stood at podiums for years insisting he had never spoken to Hunter about his business dealings. He spent his entire presidency claiming his son’s legal troubles had no bearing on how he governed. Then, in his final weeks, he handed his convicted felon son the broadest pardon any president has ever issued, covering not just existing charges but potential future ones, stretching back years.
The Trump camp called it “an abuse and miscarriage of justice” at the time.
Democrats spent years building a mythology around the Hunter Biden prosecution: that it was politically motivated, that the charges were drummed up, that the real story was Republican persecution. But their own guy just admitted on camera that the pardon wasn’t about exoneration. It was about insulation.
