Trump Backs Mike Lindell for Minnesota Governor in Official Endorsement

President Donald Trump on Wednesday endorsed MyPillow founder Mike Lindell for governor of Minnesota, calling him “one of America’s greatest and most hard working Patriots” in a post on Truth Social.

“Mike will be SPECTACULAR!!!” Trump wrote, referring to Lindell as “the ‘Pillow Man.'” “He truly loves Minnesota, as do I, and wants to bring it back from oblivion and embarrassment. He can do it!”

The endorsement came one day before Trump is scheduled to deliver a primetime national address focused on election security. Trump has described the speech as a major event and has suggested he may revisit disputes over the 2020 presidential election.

Lindell, 65, built his public profile through TV advertising for his MyPillow bedding company and became one of Trump’s most visible surrogates after the 2020 election.

The Minnesota governorship was previously held by Tim Walz, the Democratic vice presidential nominee in 2024. Trump has repeatedly attacked Walz over his handling of state government, including allegations of rampant fraud in federal spending on childcare programs. Walz has disputed the Trump administration’s characterizations.

Trump has made the Minnesota governor’s race a personal priority. “He truly loves Minnesota,” Trump said of Lindell in the Wednesday post.

Lindell has not yet officially filed paperwork for the race. The 2026 Minnesota gubernatorial primary is set for later this year.

The endorsement draws a sharp contrast heading into the 2026 midterm cycle. Republicans are targeting the governorship as part of a broader effort to flip Midwestern states Trump narrowly lost or won in 2024.
