Trump Says Iran Talks Will Continue

President Trump reiterated that the ceasefire with Iran is “over” as he agreed to another round of peace talks.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran has asked us to continue ‘talks,'” he wrote on Truth Social. “We have agreed to do so, but the United States has stated to them, in no uncertain terms, that the Cease Fire is OVER! Thank you for your attention to this matter.”

Trump previously indicated that he would continue negotiations with Iran. When asked about the ceasefire, he said, “For me, I think it’s over.” He added, “It’s just a waste of time dealing with them.” Discussing the role of American representatives, he said, “They can talk, but I think they’re wasting their time.”

Amid reports of new and escalating threats against Trump’s life, the president said that he has “left instructions” in the event of his death. “I’ve been on their list for a long time. That’s what we’re dealing with,” he told the New York Post. “The only thing is, I’ve left instructions — if anything happens, to just literally bomb them at levels that they’ve never seen before.”

Responding to reports that Israel flagged a new plot against him, President Trump said, “No, no. Israel came up with nothing. No, no. I’ve been No. 1 [on Iran’s kill list] for a long time, and it’s the way life is, you know.”

According to the June framework agreement between the United States and Iran, the U.S. would terminate sanctions, provide support for rebuilding Iran, among other actions, while Iran would cease any procurement or development of nuclear weapons and allow for the safe passage of commercial vessels.
