Nestlé announced that it has completely eliminated artificial colors from its products.
The company’s portfolio is now free of Food, Drug & Cosmetic (FD&C) colors. Alternative solutions to the ingredients are now being used while maintaining the “quality, taste and experience people expect,” Nestlé explained in a news release.
“Consumers expect more choice, more transparency, and products they can feel good about,” Nestlé USA CEO Marty Thompson said in a statement. “We will keep evolving in ways that matter to them, while strengthening trust in our brands and offering high-quality food and beverages. Eliminating FD&C colors from our portfolio is one more way we continue to meet those expectations while delivering the quality people know and expect from Nestlé USA.”
HHS Secretary celebrated the move. “Thank you, @Nestle, for eliminating synthetic dyes from your products,” he wrote on X. “Nestlé stepped up and delivered. Now it’s time for every food company operating in America to do the same and help Make America Healthy Again.”
Nestlé announced last year that it would take steps to align its products with the “Make America Healthy Again” initiative.
“Serving and delighting people is at the heart of everything we do and every decision that we make,” Thompson said at the time. “We have been doing so for over 100 years, and that longevity is built on an unwavering commitment to understanding our consumers, adapting to their evolving expectations, and meeting their immediate needs, but with a future-focused approach. Nestlé USA remains committed to providing consumers with affordable, high-quality food and beverages.”
