President Trump announced that the United States and Iran have reached an agreement to end the conflict and open the Strait of Hormuz.
“The Deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran is now complete,” he declared on Truth Social. “Congratulations to all! I hereby fully authorize the toll free opening of the Strait of Hormuz, and, simultaneously herewith, authorize the immediate removal of the United States Naval blockade. Ships of the World, start your engines. Let the oil flow!”
In a subsequent post, Trump said the agreement will bring “Peace and Security to the whole Region.”
“Many presidents have tried to make Peace with Iran, and all have failed before me. The Leaders of the Region have, for the first time, found a President who can help them achieve real Peace,” he explained. “With the opening of the Strait upon the signing of the Deal on Friday, for purposes of mine removal, oil will flow on both ends again for the Region, and the World!”
Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif made a similar announcement. “Following intensive talks, we are pleased to announce that the Peace Deal between the United States of America and Islamic Republic of Iran has been REACHED,” Sharif wrote on X. “Both sides have declared the immediate and permanent termination of military operations on all fronts, including in Lebanon.” He added that mediators will now facilitate meetings to lay the foundation for “technical talks and the official signing ceremony.”
The official signing ceremony will take place on June 19.
On Monday morning, President Trump announced that ships are beginning to move through the Strait of Hormuz. “Ships are starting to move, many loaded up with Oil, out of the Strait of Hormuz They are going along the Southern ‘Highway,’ which is totally safe, secure, and pristine. There are other areas of travel, also!!!”
Full details of the plan are expected to be released this week, Vice President JD Vance told CBS Mornings. “Sometimes with these agreements, there are some diplomatic protocols, some technical things to work out. But we plan to release the full text this week. We want the American people to see it. But we’ve also seen, of course, some misreporting about what’s actually in the agreement. We’ve seen some accurate reporting about what’s in the agreement,” he said.
He noted that the deal “ensures that Iran will never have a nuclear weapon,” and added that Iran will have a “much better and much more prosperous future if they meet the obligations they make in this agreement.”
