Vance to Appear on ‘The View’

Vice President J.D. Vance will appear on ABC’s “The View” next Tuesday, June 16, marking his first-ever visit to the daytime talk show. The booking, announced by ABC on Thursday, is tied to the release of Vance’s new memoir on his personal faith journey.

All six co-hosts will participate in the interview: Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines, Alyssa Farah Griffin and Ana Navarro. ABC said the panel will discuss Vance’s book and “priorities and goals for the administration and the latest political headlines.” The episode airs 11 a.m. to noon EDT and will livestream on Hulu + Live TV, YouTube TV, Fubo and DirecTV Stream.

The book is titled “Communion: Finding My Way Back to Faith,” to be published by HarperCollins on the same day. The memoir covers Vance’s religious history: raised Protestant, he drifted toward atheism during college and after graduation, then converted to Catholicism in 2019. “It’s about my personal journey and how I found my way back to faith,” Vance said in March.

The appearance makes Vance the third sitting vice president to appear on the show. Former Vice President Joe Biden sat with the panel in 2014. Former Vice President Kamala Harris has also appeared.

The booking arrives during a legally complicated stretch for the program. The Federal Communications Commission opened an investigation into “The View” in 2025, declaring it subject to equal time rules for political candidates after the show hosted Texas Democratic Senate candidate James Talarico. Republicans have largely declined invitations to the program since the probe began. The hosts have acknowledged that most Republican guests turn down invitations.

Disney, which owns ABC, has not accepted the inquiry quietly. The company submitted its broadcast license renewal applications “under protest,” calling the FCC’s actions “unlawful, arbitrary, and unconstitutional.” Disney retained former U.S. Solicitor General Paul Clement, a specialist in Supreme Court and appellate arguments, to handle the FCC response. The company has signaled it will take the matter to court if needed. FCC Chairman Brendan Carr opened a separate inquiry into Disney’s diversity practices in March 2025.

Navarro, a former Republican strategist, has become a frequent critic of the Trump administration. Griffin served in Trump’s first administration before breaking with him publicly after the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol attack. The show’s hosts, in its current 29th season, have regularly taken the Trump administration to task.
