Trump Signs Landmark Bill Funding ICE, Border Patrol

President Trump signed the Secure America Act, securing $72 billion to fund Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Border Patrol. The agencies will now be funded through the end of Trump’s term.

Following the House’s passing of the bill on June 9, House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) said Congress has officially ended the third Democrat government shutdown of this Congress. And here’s the end result of Democrats’ record-setting obstruction: CBP and ICE will now be funded for the remainder of President Trump’s term and Democrats will have no ability to defund these agencies in the 119th or 120th Congresses.”

“All that Democrats have achieved by their shutdown is a useful reminder to the American people of their support for open borders and keeping criminal illegal immigrants in American communities—policies that have been soundly rejected by the American people over and over again,” he said. “We hope this episode serves as a future reminder to Democrats that when they shut the government down, they will receive less than nothing in return.”

Meanwhile, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) said, “Republicans have now come back for more, to give ICE and Donald Trump’s violent mass deportation machine another $70 billion blank check, with no oversight, no accountability, and no guardrails.”

A White House statement on the bill’s signing says that President Trump has “delivered the most secure border in history, with illegal crossings dropping to record lows—just as he promised.”

“The Secure America Act puts an end to Democrats’ political games by fully funding ICE and Border Patrol through President Trump’s term and providing the resources needed to keep our border secure, combat human trafficking, stop the flow of deadly drugs, dismantle criminal cartels, and enforce America’s immigration laws,” the statement says.

Upon signing the bill, President Trump said the legislation gives the “heroes of ICE and Border Patrol—and that’s what they are, they’re heroes, with what they have to go through to keep us safe—the support and resources they need to defend our borders, protect our homeland, and to keep America safe.”
