Rubio Identifies Cracks in Iranian Leadership

Secretary of State Marco Rubio said there are “fractures” in Iranian leadership as the United States continues its talks with Iran.

Without disclosing the details of those involved in discussions, Rubio revealed, “Look, there’s some fractures going on there internally. And at the end of the day, I think that if there are people in Iran who now, given everything that’s happened, are willing to move in a different direction for their country, that would be great.”

“Imagine an Iran that, instead of spending their wealth, billions of dollars, supporting terrorists or weapons, had spent that money helping the people of Iran,” he said. “You’d have a much different country.”

The comments come as President Trump highlighted the talks on Truth Social. “The United States of America is in serious discussions with A NEW, AND MORE REASONABLE, REGIME to end our Military Operations in Iran,” he wrote. “Great progress has been made but, if for any reason a deal is not shortly reached, which it probably will be, and if the Hormuz Strait is not immediately ‘Open for Business,’ we will conclude our lovely ‘stay’ in Iran by blowing up and completely obliterating all of their Electric Generating Plants, Oil Wells and Kharg Island (and possibly all desalinization plants!), which we have purposefully not yet ‘touched.’”

“This will be in retribution for our many soldiers, and others, that Iran has butchered and killed over the old Regime’s 47 year ‘Reign of Terror,'” Trump noted. “Thank you for your attention to this matter.”

Rubio said last week that the United States is on track to complete its military objectives in Iran within weeks, rejecting the idea that a ground invasion is coming. “We are ahead of schedule” on most of the Iran objectives, he said, “and we can achieve them without any ground troops – without any.”
