Shia LaBeouf bond drama intensified Thursday as the actor posted $100,000 and quickly fled the courthouse following a status hearing in New Orleans. The bond decision came after the 39-year-old faced two counts of simple battery tied to a Feb. 17 Mardi Gras incident.
Orleans Parish Criminal Court Judge Simone Levine set a $100,000 bond and ordered LaBeouf to return to drug and alcohol rehabilitation. The judge also required weekly drug testing as part of the conditions. Authorities charged LaBeouf with two counts of simple battery after an alleged altercation near Bourbon Street and the French Quarter.
According to police, LaBeouf was allegedly “causing a disturbance and becoming increasing aggressive at a Royal Street business.” When a staff member tried to remove him, officers said he used “his closed fists on the victim several times.”
“The victims reported that LaBeouf left, but then came back, acting even more aggressive.” Police added that he later struck the same victim again with “closed fists to the victim’s upper body” and allegedly punched another person in the nose. “LaBeouf was again held down until police arrived,” police said. “He was taken to a hospital for treatment of unknown injuries. Upon release, he was arrested and charged with two counts of simple battery.”
After Thursday’s hearing, LaBeouf posted bond and ran from media cameras outside the courthouse. A video captured by WDSU showed the actor jogging away as reporters attempted to question him.
The following day after his arrest, LaBeouf posted a brief message on X: “Free me.”
