A leftist activist is under federal investigation after allegedly interfering with a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operation in Portland, Oregon. The incident occurred as President Donald Trump’s administration intensified its crackdown on illegal alien crime, specifically targeting foreign gang-affiliated individuals.
ICE officers were conducting arrests in North Portland when the suspect, a woman, reportedly drove recklessly near the operation. According to The Post Millennial, she ran a red light, nearly collided with a school bus, and followed federal agents, at one point attempting to block their vehicles. A reporter embedded with the ICE team captured the incident on video from inside a federal vehicle.
When ICE pulled her over, the officer informed her she was impeding a federal investigation and had been recorded. The woman pleaded, “Don’t arrest me please. Give me a warning. I have kids… I’m just a mom.”
Homeland Security Investigations has opened a case into the matter. ICE Deputy Field Office Director Julio Hernandez stated the woman had endangered officers and received several warnings to leave the area before being stopped. He described her actions as a serious interference with federal duties.
Hernandez also pointed to a broader issue involving “spotters” — individuals using cars, horns, and other signals to warn illegal aliens of ICE presence. He noted this behavior is common among agitators in the Portland area who attempt to obstruct law enforcement operations.
Earlier in the day, the same woman was allegedly seen making obscene gestures toward ICE agents. This behavior is part of a wider pattern of hostility toward federal immigration enforcement agents. According to a July report by Breitbart News, assaults on ICE agents have surged nearly 700 percent since January, with left-wing protest groups increasingly confronting officers during enforcement actions.
Democratic officials including House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, California Governor Gavin Newsom, and others have made inflammatory comparisons of ICE agents to Nazis. Jeffries recently stated that “every single one of them, no matter what it takes, no matter how long it takes will, of course, be identified,” directly referring to ICE personnel.
Despite growing hostility and political opposition, ICE continues to carry out its mandate to remove criminal aliens and secure communities.
