Kamala Harris Memoir Panned as ‘Unhelpful and Divisive’ by Dems

Kamala Harris’s push to promote her new book has backfired, with top Democrats blasting her for writing what they call an “unhelpful and divisive” memoir. Released Tuesday, 107 Days recounts Harris’s view of the 2024 election—but party insiders warn it could damage her future ambitions and leave her branded as a “sore loser.”

Michael Hardaway, a former senior adviser to House Democratic leader Hakeem Jeffries, told Politico the memoir “seems to be unhelpful and divisive in a way that makes it hard for her to be the face of the party as we look to the future.” A former Biden-Harris campaign staffer echoed the concern, warning that voters could “start seeing her as a sore loser,” which they called a major “risk.”

The book levels accusations at Joe Biden’s White House team, claiming aides “intentionally knock[ed] her down.” Harris also called Biden’s decision to run for reelection at 81 “recklessness.” She didn’t stop there—attacking California governor Gavin Newsom as “unreachable” and slamming Pennsylvania governor Josh Shapiro’s “ambition.”

Democrats privately fear the drama is tarnishing the party’s already shaky image. “Democrats privately worry the parade of scab-picking, backward-looking books isn’t helping the party move on,” Politico reported.

Even longtime Democratic strategist David Axelrod questioned Harris’s judgment: “If this was intended as a campaign launch, I don’t think it got off the pad. If it was intended as a catharsis, only she can know if it was successful.”
