In-N-Out Heiress Lynsi Snyder Relocates Family to Tennessee Amid Expansion

Lynsi Snyder, billionaire president and heiress of In‑N‑Out Burger, announced she is moving her family from California to Franklin, Tennessee. The decision aligns with the company’s ongoing expansion eastward and reflects personal concerns over raising a family and operating in California’s challenging business environment.

During a recent appearance on Allie Beth Stuckey’s “Relatable” podcast, Snyder stressed that while California offers much, “raising a family is not easy here” and “doing business is not easy here”. The move coincides with construction of a new 100,000‑square‑foot corporate office in Franklin to support future growth, though the bulk of stores will remain in California.

Snyder plans to phase out the Irvine headquarters by 2030, consolidating operations in Baldwin Park, California, or Tennessee. Staff will either relocate to one of these hubs. She noted the company had closed the Oakland location due to crime, recalling incidents like “gunshots … and a stabbing,” saying it was “not OK”.

Despite interest from states like Florida and other East Coast regions, Snyder confirmed there are no immediate plans for expansion beyond Tennessee, citing logistical constraints.

As sole owner and president since 2010, Snyder has guided the family-founded chain since 1948 through steady growth while preserving its roots. The Tennessee move represents both a strategic expansion and a bid for stability for her family. It marks a significant pivot for a brand synonymous with California identity.
