Trump Says FBI Deputy Director Bongino ‘In Good Shape’ After Tensions With AG Bondi

President Trump confirmed speaking with FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino on Sunday amid a reported clash with Attorney General Pam Bondi over the handling of Jeffrey Epstein files. Trump told reporters at Joint Base Andrews that “Dan Bongino… sounded terrific” and he believes Bongino remains “in good shape.”

The tension emerged when sources revealed Bongino threatened to resign if Bondi stayed in office, allegedly upset over what he viewed as mishandling of Epstein documents. Fox News reported Bongino was “furious” and exchanged heated words with Bondi, even walking out of a closed‑door meeting with White House officials.

Trump defended Bondi, praising her performance on Truth Social and urging unity. “LET PAM BONDI DO HER JOB — SHE’S GREAT! … not waste time … on Jeffrey Epstein,” he said. Trump insisted the ongoing attention on the files was politically motivated and detracted from his team’s work.
