Stanford Antisemitism: Lab Director Fabricates Harassment Exploit Against Israeli Scientist

A disturbing case of Stanford antisemitism has emerged as Israeli chemist Dr. Shay Laps accuses Stanford University lab director Dr. Danny Chou of fabricating a sexual harassment investigation to vengefully punish him after a campaign of anti-Israel bias. Laps says colleagues sabotaged his diabetes research, blocked his access to essential equipment, and socially ostracized him for being an Israeli Jew—describing “a hostile work environment from the moment he stepped foot in the lab.”

The complaint, filed by the Brandeis Center, reveals that lab assistant Terra Lin sabotaged Laps’s results and delayed his workflow while regularly socializing with campus pro-Hamas protesters. When Laps complained, Dr. Chou allegedly responded by fabricating a Title IX probe and threatening deportation. At an “urgent” August meeting, Laps “was told that the news had come ‘from the Title IX’ office,” only to later learn the accusation was entirely false.

“Stanford’s refusal to investigate Dr. Laps’ retaliation claim for months, holding the claim hostage,” left Laps no choice but to resign, the lawsuit states. University leaders, including President Jonathan Levin and Dean Lloyd Minor, allegedly dismissed Laps’s claims—even amid ongoing federal investigations into campus antisemitism.

Kenneth Marcus of the Brandeis Center warned Stanford “shrunk in the face of responsibility, took action only when needed to protect itself, and ignored the vehement instances of anti‑Semitism plaguing their campus.” Dr. Laps’s story shows how ideological bias and academic prestige can weaponize discrimination—turning one of America’s top universities into a hostile environment for Jewish scholars.
