NEA Antisemitism: Teachers’ Union Votes to Ban ADL Classroom Materials

The National Education Association (NEA) faces growing backlash after delegates voted to prohibit the use of Anti-Defamation League (ADL) materials in classrooms—a move critics call a disturbing act of NEA antisemitism.

The resolution, passed during the union’s national meeting in Portland, instructs educators to “not use, endorse, or publicize materials from the Anti-Defamation League.” The decision now heads to the NEA’s executive committee for final approval.

The ADL condemned the vote, calling it “profoundly disturbing” and accusing NEA activists of pushing “a radical, antisemitic agenda on students.” Jewish Insider reported that the vote follows a grassroots campaign, #DropTheADLFromSchools, driven by far-left educators.

This act of NEA antisemitism comes amid a surge in anti-Jewish hate across the country following Hamas’s October 7 attacks on Israel. In contrast to the union’s move, President Donald Trump has taken decisive action, including revoking visas of foreign nationals tied to antisemitic activity and withholding federal funds from universities that fail to protect Jewish students.

Even NEA’s own Jewish Affairs Caucus rebuked the resolution, saying it “sends a troubling message of exclusion.” One Jewish teacher at the meeting asked, “Does that include stopping Jewish hate, anti-Semitism? Some of our members don’t feel they are safe.”

When a teachers’ union sides with radicals over reason, Jewish students—and the truth—suffer most.
