Rosie O’Donnell Torches Oprah Over Bezos Wedding

Comedian Rosie O’Donnell launched a scathing poetic attack against billionaire Jeff Bezos, his new wife Lauren Sánchez, and Oprah Winfrey following the couple’s lavish $50 million wedding in Venice. O’Donnell, writing from her self-imposed exile in Ireland, condemned the star-studded celebration as “gross excess” and accused the A-list attendees of “worthless performative nonsense.”

In a 440-word Substack poem, O’Donnell ridiculed Sánchez, calling her a “fake fem bot wife” and mocking her appearance through “then and now” photos that suggested cosmetic enhancement. She questioned Bezos’ decision to marry Sánchez instead of his former wife, philanthropist MacKenzie Scott, saying, “Why would he choose her / After the salt of the earth Mackenzie.”

O’Donnell also took aim at Oprah, expressing disbelief that the media mogul would associate with Bezos. “Is Oprah friends with Jeff Bezos / Really – how is that possible,” she wrote, adding, “He is not a nice man by any metric.” Oprah, who once gave O’Donnell her own show on the Oprah Winfrey Network in 2011 before canceling it six months later, was among the highest-profile guests in Venice, arriving via private jet.

O’Donnell, who is reportedly worth $80 million, lambasted the billionaire wedding party for its hypocrisy and detachment from ordinary people. “We have become numb to gross excess / We have learned to tolerate it / Celebrity worship / Devoid of humanity,” she wrote. She contrasted the opulence with what she described as a “fascist America,” expressing fears over future elections and civil liberties under President Trump’s second term.

Referencing Trump’s new border legislation, dubbed the “Big Beautiful Bill,” O’Donnell called it “the nail in all of our coffins.” She ended her poetic tirade with lyrics from Carole King’s “It’s Too Late,” portraying a bleak outlook on the political and cultural state of the country she left.
