Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials revealed that over 100 Americans were victimized by a widespread identity theft scheme orchestrated by illegal aliens at the Glenn Valley Foods meatpacking plant in Omaha, Nebraska. The operation was exposed during a June 10 ICE raid that uncovered more than 70 illegal aliens working at the facility, some employed there for decades.
Despite assurances from Glenn Valley Foods executives that E-Verify was used during hiring, ICE found that the workers had bypassed the system using stolen Social Security Numbers belonging to American citizens. ICE’s Mark Zito condemned public attempts to label the identity thieves as “honest workers,” citing severe financial and emotional harm to victims.
One disabled American in Texas was denied Social Security benefits after their identity was stolen by a Glenn Valley Foods worker. Another victim in Pennsylvania couldn’t obtain necessary medications. In California, an individual spent 15 years recovering from the financial damage caused by identity theft at the same plant.
A nursing student in Missouri lost tuition assistance and couldn’t renew her driver’s license after her identity was stolen. The illegal alien using her information had accumulated unpaid traffic tickets. In Colorado, an American received a $5,000 IRS bill for taxes on income they never earned — but was falsely reported by an identity thief at the meat plant.
Zito emphasized that the criminals didn’t just break immigration laws but “upended lives.” He stressed that these are real people suffering tangible harm. The case mirrors the 2019 Mississippi raid, where hundreds of illegal aliens also used stolen identities to gain employment in food processing plants.
