Top Democrats and left-wing commentators are doubling down on defending the presence of illegal immigrants in the United States—not for humanitarian reasons, but to preserve the economic and lifestyle comforts of America’s urban elite. In recent statements and viral clips, Democrats made it clear: many rely on a shadow labor force to do the jobs they refuse to do themselves.
California Rep. Norma Torres claimed the chaos in Los Angeles, where nearly 200 were arrested during anti-ICE riots, was the result of ICE enforcement—not criminal activity. She criticized President Donald Trump’s efforts to restore immigration law and order, calling the riots “a local issue” and condemning the deployment of federal forces.
“These are the people that are cleaning our hotel rooms, cooking our food, and taking care of our children,” Torres said. She accused the president of using illegal immigrants as “political props” while ignoring that many of these individuals are unlawfully present and working in unregulated jobs.
Senator Cory Booker echoed this defense, calling the LA riots “peaceful” and sharing a viral video in which a woman argued mass deportations would disrupt service jobs like Uber driving, housekeeping, and food delivery. She admitted the U.S. economy is heavily reliant on illegal labor and encouraged Americans to support illegal immigration out of “selfish” interest.
Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockett took the argument further, joking that Americans no longer want to “pick cotton” or work in agriculture. Her comments underscored the assumption that hard labor should be delegated to a permanent underclass of non-citizens.
Democrats have increasingly defended the role of illegal immigrants not from a position of equality or legal reform, but to ensure a steady supply of low-cost labor for industries and elites dependent on it. While calling for amnesty and opposing enforcement, they reveal their intent to maintain a two-tier society—one that benefits their interests while exploiting others.
